About Spencer Jensen

My name is Spencer Jensen and I am a relationship and sex therapist at Pivotal Counseling in Northern Colorado. I primarily work with couples and relationship systems, and I see individuals and relational clients in person in our West Greeley office and via telehealth. My passion areas as a sex and relationship therapist include: queer sex therapy, neurodiverse couples (partner(s) with ADHD, autism, etc.), non-monogamous/polyamorous relationships, gender affirming therapy, and affair recovery. I take a systemic approach with all of my clients that includes a social justice and family systems lens. I primarily do work using PACT, EFT, narrative, and solution focused modalities. I am passionate about assisting clients to connect with their emotions, learn to communicate effectively, and having open conversations about sex to create more fulfilling relationships and sex lives. I received my master's of science in 2023 from Colorado State University in Human Development and Family Studies with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. I completed my master's thesis used mixed methods research to understand what factors impact parent comfort in discussing sex with their autistic youth. I also assisted in other research projects related to LGBTQ+ adolescent mental health, efficacy of mindfulness interventions, and received introductory training on conducting autism assessments. I completed my bachelor of science in 2021 from the University of Miami in Community and Applied Psychology with double major in Psychology and minors in Philosophy and Education. While at UM I gained research experience with children and low-income communities in South Florida examining social and economic factors influencing school readiness. Additionally, I did an internship in community psychology where I assisted with prevention science projects in Miami-Dade County doing program evaluation and grant writing. Finally, I served as the chair for an on campus mental health organization where I conducted and created original psychoeducation materials for college student populations through peer education. My personal interests include cooking plant-based recipes, discovering new restaurants, visiting local coffee shops, spending time with animals, and listening to music.
