About Spencer Kane

As a Design & Consulting Engineer, I specialize in energy solutions that bridge compliance, innovation, and sustainability. My work spans multifamily new construction, existing building retrofits, and novel power generation systems, with a focus on delivering resilient, decarbonized infrastructure that meets both regulatory and real-world demands. I lead compliance efforts for Energy Star Multifamily New Construction and Enterprise Green Communities, managing portfolios across multiple buildings. I’m a registered MFNC ES (ENERGY STAR) and HERS rater, and I work with familiarity in simulation tools, manual calculation, and field testing to ensure designs are both compliant and performance optimized. On the power generation side, I’ve designed and integrated of 15 MW of fuel cell systems across three sites, including serving lead engineer for a full turnkey installation. My academic foundation in fuel cell technologies supports my ability to think across disciplines, combining boots-on-the-ground experience with high-level design strategy. In the retrofit space, I manage rebate and incentive recovery for sustainability-focused building systems, recovering over $1 million annually for clients. My work in HVAC and envelope design helps existing buildings meet modern energy standards without compromising budget or performance. What drives me is a belief in green resiliency - the idea that sustainable technologies should be accessible, safe, and scalable. I’m especially passionate about emerging alternatives like FWES (Flywheel Energy Storage), which offer safer, greener and longer lasting energy resiliency. Whether I’m working on compliance documentation, system design, or incentive strategy, I bring a collaborative mindset, technical rigor, and a commitment to helping clients make smart, sustainable choices.
