Physician with 20 years of clinical, medical device, entrepreneurial and research experience. As a heart rhythm specialist, performs complex ablation of atrial fibrillation and life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias in high-risk patients, and implantation of Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Devices. Research focused on digital health innovation and exploring the role of novel digital biomarkers acquired from wearable and implanted sensors in understanding the mechanisms and advancing the development of personalized therapeutic approaches to arrhythmias resulting from hereditary diseases such as Long QT and Myotonic Dystrophy 1 (DM1). Our team at the University of Rochester is developing futuristic medical devices that tailor therapies to the individual instead of just the “group”. Experienced investigator in multi-center clinical trials including FDA IDE trials and integrated pharmacologic-cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) trials. Chaired CIED machine-acquired data adjudication committees for several international multi-center trials.Inventor of an implantable cell-embedded biosensor device incorporating living cells as the sensor element within the hardware to provide situational awareness and decision-making at the cellular level. This technology transforms the type and resolution of the data needed to begin understanding and personalizing health and wellness.
