As a Data Engineer at Deloitte Greece, I focus on data engineering tasks, combining technical skills with an understanding of business processes. My career started in the laser cutting sheet metal industry, Delmetal, where I spent 4.5 years in mechanical engineering, data analysis and process automation. This experience ignited my passion for data, leading to my transition into data engineering, where I now enhance data warehousing solutions for the banking sector. At DelMetal, I designed and refined 2D and 3D sheet metal parts for laser cutting and bending, handled costing, customer interactions, G-code generation, and managed production and material flow. My role evolved to include data science: Machine Learning: Developed an algorithm in Python to predict bending times, improving costing accuracy and production scheduling. Software Integration & Automation: Collaborated with IT to implement a unified software solution, and mastered SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) for automating data processes. Data Analytics: Utilized PowerBI to create data models and reports, delivering insights to leadership and departments. At Deloitte, I focus on enhancing data warehousing solutions for the banking industry. My responsibilities include designing and optimizing ETL flows using SQL, IBM DB2, and AS400 to integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring reliable and high-quality data for decision-making.
