About Sreelekshmi Mohan

My academic journey has equipped me with a strong foundation in various domains of astrophysics, including planetary science, cosmology, high-energy astrophysics, formation and evolution of stars, galaxies and computational astrophysics. During my master's program, I excelled in seminar courses, honing my presentation and communication skills. I gained valuable hands-on experience with on-campus telescopes, explored my skills in data reduction and analysis, while publishing my project findings in a prestigious journal. During my PhD, I specialized in radio and infrared astronomy, with a primary focus on data reduction, analysis, and numerical modeling/simulation. My work in this field has been published in reputable international journals. Throughout my PhD and afterwards, I had the privilege of conducting observations and handling the scientific data from Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT), Devasthal Optical Telescope (DOT), United Kingdom Infrared Telescope (UKIRT) and James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), through which I furthered my expertise in observational astronomy which includes imaging and spectroscopic studies. My journey in astrophysics has not only deepened my knowledge but also instilled a passion for coding in Python. I'm particularly enthusiastic about harnessing the power of Python for data analysis, visualization, and modeling in astrophysical research. I believe that Python's robust community, rich libraries, and machine learning potential have proven to be essential in extracting meaningful insights from complex astrophysical datasets. I look forward to connecting with fellow researchers, educators, and science enthusiasts to collaborate and share our fascination with the cosmos. I am equally enthusiastic about sharing my knowledge and passion for astrophysics with new generations of students. As an educator, I aim to inspire and nurture the curiosity of budding astronomers.
