About Sreytom Tim

I have a passion for helping young women and children. Ultimately, I want to empower girls and women in Cambodia through gender equality and quality education promotion, economic development and human rights advancement. I recently graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in family social science and a management minor. I am currently an academic success mentor to 8 students in Cambodia. In 2020, I was awarded the SHE-CAN SuperNoma Award for exceptional engagement and leadership within the SHE-CAN community. At the University of Minnesota, I was a part of the International Student Advisory Board. I enhanced my leadership skills as a Global Gopher Events Leader, and as an Event Coordinator and Internal Public Relations manager for the Cambodian Student Association. In the winter of 2018, I volunteered to mentor a group of high school girls through Girls Getting Ahead in Leadership (GGAL), a Women's Initiative for Self-Empowerment (WISE) program that provides opportunities for 10th-12th grade immigrant and refugee girls to improve their academics, prepare for college, and build strong leadership skills. I’ve interned at the WorldBridge Group in Cambodia and at Girls on Fire Leaders in NYC. Before I joined SHE-CAN, I assumed many leadership roles at my high school and earned my high school’s highest score on the National Exam. Additionally, I received a scholarship to study at Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia (PUC) and was also an active member of a few youth groups. I’m a former girl who became an investment professional and I think educating girls in emerging economies is the best global investment.
