Background
About Srushya Krishnan
As a graduate with a Bachelors of Arts of Psychology, and a minor in Women’s Studies from Saint Louis University (SLU), a recent Master’s in Education graduate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou), and a Doctoral Student at the University of Memphis for Counseling Psychology. I am seeking to utilize my degree and teaching experience at an adjunct professor position. I am passionate about advocating for education and the field of psychology. As a recipient of a Master’s in Counseling Psychology, I am passionate about psychology as the study of the mind and human behavior as well as providing therapy. This passion will help me effectively provide teaching and mentoring to students as well as support in an adjunct professor position. I have substantial teaching experience from being an adjunct assistant professor at Bentley University for Cross-Cultural Psychology. This course examined the cultural similarities and differences of individuals and groups from various parts of the world. I designed a syllabus, lecture material, activities, and assignments for the class. I managed the course using Blackboard. I was physically present in the classroom and was able to utilize the classroom hybrid technology in order to provide lectures to students in person and remotely. I maintained office hours and graded and provided feedback on assignments to students. I also regularly checked and responded to email. By performing these tasks at Bentley University, I helped give my students effective mentoring as well as teaching. I helped students learn in the classroom by providing lectures of class material. As well as outside of the classroom by engaging in active listening and providing feedback to students during office hours. In my role as an adjunct assistant professor at Bentley University I was made aware of the unique challenges of teaching at the college level. These challenges included having to consult with the university when I felt unsure of how to provide appropriate accommodations to students. As well as taking time to clearly explain assignments and lecture material to my students so that they had clear expectations about the class and the best learning experience possible. I also participated in various research teams in my master’s program as well as interview transcribing. My Research/Clinical Interests include: • Domestic/Intimate-partner Violence • Sexual and Gender Minorities • South Asian Communities
