About Stacey Atkins

Stacey is a certified Spiritual Director, spiritual counselor and coach serving the spiritually independent via Zoom. She is a graduate of the Zeitgeist Atlanta Spiritual Directors Training Program, located in Atlanta, Georgia. Currently she serves on the Board of Zeitgeist as Secretary. She relocated from the Western Slope to Snowmass Village, CO in July of 2024, with her husband, J.R. Atkins. Stacey also works as a free-lance writer, editor and proofreader with several articles published in the Grand Junction Lifestyles Magazine. On August 1, 2020, Stacey retired from a 34-year career as a flight attendant with Delta Air Lines. Her work as a flight attendant formed her for a life of service and compassion for others. As a flight attendant she cared not only for the flying customers, but also her co-workers. Flight attendants often practiced “jumpseat therapy” for each other, by sharing personal stories and issues with one another while sitting on the jumpseat during various phases of flight. In this way they are a built-in support system for one another. Stacey earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas in 1986, majoring in English and minoring in Spanish. In 2012 she graduated from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas with a master's degree in Theological Studies. In 2016 she completed the two-year Academy for Spiritual Formation with Upper Room Ministries. Stacey is a certified yoga teacher, a Reiki Master/Teacher, a Shamanic Practitioner and a Sound Healer. Growing up in the United Methodist Church started Stacey’s spiritual formation at a young age. She was active in United Methodist Youth Fellowship and in church youth choir. She continues to be active in church today. Her husband, J.R, is a pastor in the Mountain Sky Conference of the United Methodist Church. He has a son, Coleman, who runs his own business in the Denver area. Stacey and J.R. live in Snowmass Village with their cat and dog.
