About Stacey Jackson
I am an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. I currently teach Introduction to Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Theories of Counseling, a graduate Counseling course, and Black Psychology. I am the faculty advisor of the Marginalized Identity Status and Trauma (M.I.S.T) Research Lab in which I mentor students in conducting research exploring the implications of the trauma individuals from marginalized identities experience on their mental health and wellbeing. My area of expertise is Black Psychology and African American mental health and wellbeing. In addition to my faculty role, I also serve as a clinician at the University Counseling Center at my institution where I see students for individual, couples, group, and crisis counseling, along with providing psychoeducation and outreach services. I am extremely passionate about equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) work; cultural restoration and healing of marginalized populations and incorporate culturally informed material into my courses, research, clinical practice and speaking engagements. I have served on several committees on campus, within the Eau Claire community, and within my field her field devoted to EDI efforts such as the UWEC EDI Task Force, the Psychology Department EDI subcommittee, the EDI student training subcommittee, the Eau Claire Area School District Equity Committee, the American Psychological Association Division 45 Racial Justice Task force, and the advisory board for the Power of Perception mentorship program for Black and Biracial youth. I have provided several keynotes, workshops, facilitated dialogues, and trainings regarding mental health and wellbeing, culturally appropriate approaches to counseling African Americas, Self-care, Stress Management, tele-health, coping strategies in response to racially motivated worldly events, for students, faculty and staff at UWEC, UW Superior, Minnesota State Mankato, and employees for organizations such as Youtube, Google, MERK, Capital Group, META, MAYO Health Systems, and the Austin Neuropsychological Society. I a member of the American Psychological Association, Association of Black Psychologists, and the American Psychological Association Division 45- Society for the Psychological Study of Culture, Ethnicity and Race. Currently, I am seeking opportunities to network, mentor, educate, advice, consult, and partner with individuals within education, mental health, and equity, diversity, and inclusion fields.
