About Staci Root

I am currently pursuing my Master of Social Work (MSW) at the Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago (graduation date May, 2025), with a strong focus on clinical social work. As I work towards obtaining my LCSW, I am seeking clinical experience and supervision that will help me grow and refine my skills in a supportive and collaborative setting. With hands-on experience working with diverse populations and communities throughout Chicago, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of the challenges individuals face in accessing mental health and substance use services. My background includes administering biopsychosocial assessments, providing psychotherapy, and using evidence-based treatment modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing. I am also skilled in conducting risk assessments and connecting individuals with resources that support mental health and substance use treatment in the Chicagoland area. My approach is rooted in respect, cultural humility, and a deep commitment to creating a safe and supportive space for individuals from all walks of life. I strive to foster hope, validation, and empowerment for those who need it most, recognizing the importance of considering each person's unique background and lived experiences. I am eager to contribute to an integrated social work setting where I can receive mentorship from experienced professionals, continue my growth as a clinician, and, most importantly, offer the support, reassurance, and guidance that clients need to heal and thrive.
