I love accounting! Nerdy, I know, but it is true, and I have since taking my first bookkeeping class as a junior in high school. Accounting makes sense to me, and frankly, I am good at it. Debits = Credits = Perfect World. I have over 20 years of experience between the public and private arenas, with expertise in several industries, including Federal contracting, Alaska Native Corporations, healthcare, nonprofit, financial institutions, utilities, and government. Give me a financial issue and I will find the root cause. Financial analysis and investigation is fun to me. Not to mention financial reporting; I mean who doesn't love pulling together a well-structured balance sheet, income statement and cash flow? Certainly no one I hang out with. I am a self-motivated performer in challenging, deadline-driven situations involving multiple tasks and competing demands. I thrive on structure and discipline, both in my professional life and personal life. I want to be challenged, both mentally and physically. I pride myself on creating a productive and cohesive team environment by holding people accountable, but also by stepping in to help whenever and wherever necessary. Nothing is above or below me and I am a genuinely nice person. Contrary to popular belief, that trait does have a place in the business world. Training is also essential, and because of my financial and operational experience, I am able to bridge the gap between those two worlds by explaining concepts in plain English.
