Agana (Beginning Rain) is a Cherokee woman from long before America, who is convinced she can positively alter the total human imagination if she can help the great perpetrators of human tragedy see what they have done. In her travels through time, she meets Custer, Hitler, Goebbels, Eva Braun, a Mayan king, Pol Pot, John Chivington, and others much less famous, all who have fallen to the same forces as her nemesis, the witch-boy, who pursues her on her quest. At stake is the imagination of the child Little Rain, a painter of the world, whose mind and dreams see the whole of human history and potential. If the witch-boy gains control of the painter, then the future may be lost. Agana's journey traces the age-old struggle between the choices to right and wrong action, what makes people choose what they do, and how these choices form the world across vast expanses of time.
