About Stan Silverman

I help people become better leaders and achieve success in their careers. As the author of "Be Different! The Key to Business and Career Success," and as a speaker, advisor, thought leader and nationally syndicated columnist on leadership for the Philadelphia Business Journal and 43 sister publications across the U.S, I share my insights based on years of experience “serving in the trenches” to help people and organizations succeed. I served as the president and CEO of PQ Corporation, a global chemicals and engineered glass materials company operating in North America, South America, Europe and Asia Pacific. I am Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Drexel University and the former chairman of the board of Drexel University College of Medicine as well as the former chairman of the board of the Soap and Detergent Association. I have served on the boards of numerous public company, private company, private equity company and non-profit boards. I have been a speaker on leadership and governance issues at numerous conferences and other events. I have been an invited guest lecturer on leadership at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and at the LeBow College of Business at Drexel University where I serve as senior executive in residence. My experience and education have formed the foundation of my career. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering and an MBA degree from Drexel University. As well, I am an alumnus of the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program. I have also served as a member of the faculty of Board Advisory Services of the National Association of Corporate Directors. My passion in life: To make a difference in the lives of others.
