About Stan Thomson

Over 30 years of engineering and management experience have given me a distinct understanding of safety and innovation. My knowledge comes from decades of work across the oil and gas, mining, and manufacturing industries. I have managed construction, design, procurement and logistics on major projects from LNG tanks in Darwin and coal processing plants in Queensland to the $3.5 billion Victoria Desalination Plant, and worked in industries as diverse as abattoirs, steel foundries and salt mines. My ability for original thinking gives me the vision to elevate safety standards in lifting operations higher than ever before. Based on my excellent safety record on site and expertise managing large infrastructure projects, I challenged myself to invent a way to improve crane lifting by keeping people out of harm’s way. The result is Verton and our world-first gyroscopic technology which removes the need for taglines, improves the precision and speed of orientation, and significantly boosts productivity. I am excited to see the wide scale benefits Verton brings to overall hoist and lifting operations in all sectors and industries. Our technology is the springboard towards automation in global lifting operations, which will continue to grow construction and infrastructure, even during difficult times. Through Verton, I am on a mission to improve the safety and efficiency of crane operations worldwide through strategic ambition and innovation.
