About Stavros Stratakis

I am an Electrical and Computer Engineer holding a 5-year Integrated Master’s degree from the University of Patras, with strong academic and hands-on experience in power electronics, energy systems, and high-voltage technologies. During my current role as a freelance engineer at IPTO (Independent Power Transmission Operator), I’ve been actively involved in the commissioning and supervision of HVDC systems with Voltage Source Converter (VSC) technology, as part of the Crete–Attica Interconnection project. My academic background includes extensive work in power converters, renewable energy systems, and control techniques, gained through both laboratory experience and my diploma thesis on grid-connected photovoltaic systems under partial shading. I have used tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice, and Typhoon HIL, and I'm comfortable working with power analyzers, oscilloscopes, and control hardware. My current focus is on advancing my skills in power conversion, energy management, and system design for high-efficiency and high-reliability applications, including those found in modern energy infrastructure and emerging technology fields.
