Background

About Stefan Baranoff

Extroverted computer engineer (the safety critical electronics/controls kind) turned network security software development lead. I strongly believe solid Engineering is still a distinct skill applicable across all fields and a valuable addition to any well rounded team.Engineering, to me, is a holistic pursuit that accounts for the technical, financial, temporal, and interpersonal constraints simultaneously. It is not always the best approach, but it's the one I am the best at. Can you tell I'm an engineer, yet?I've progressed from shaving nanoseconds off C(++) code, to planning systems integrations, to being the technical guru, to leading multiple teams across a variety of related product lines. In the not too distant future I hope to graduate to being the "good idea fairy": someone who draws "good ideas" on a white board and inspires teams to bring them to life.In my spare time I'm an aspiring home cook, pet lover, and former sailor/biker/aikidoka/trumpeter/person with too many other neglected side-interests put aside for my true free time passion: whatever computer related work project has me giddy with excitement today.
