When I was personally asked my middle school principal to play the role of santa at my school for a day, I asked her,"why me?". Her response to me was,"you are simply great with people". Progressing through my school years, people always considered me a good friend because of my strong communication and listening skills. Whether I am conversing at a health fair, volunteering with the youth, or scribing at my hospital that narrative hasn't changed. Starting my career in healthcare, I found myself relying on these skills to build connections. When I studied at Cornell University, I learned the role cultural, religious, and language differences play in our interactions with patients.
