Background
About Stefan Leue
I am conducting research in the area of modeling and analysis of complex systems, with applications in cyber-physical systems, biological systems and legal tech. At my chair we use formal modeling and analysis techniques in these domains, in particular temporal logic, SMT solving, model checking (probabilistic and real-time ) and causality checking. We are also interested in using methods from Artificial Intelligence in systems verification and have developed the highly efficient K* algorithm to solve the k-shortest-path problem. A major current focus is on supporting the model-based design and analysis of functional safety properties in safety-critical systems, following standards such as ISO 26262, DO 178-B/C and EN 60601-1. In this area we currently pursue the QuantUM project, see also QuantUM supports automated safety analysis (FTA, FMEA) for system architecture models given in the UML or SysML. We have recently shown how this helps in performing architecture and parameter variant analysis in providing (probabilistic) safety evidence for ADAS and ADS automotive system architectures. We have also become interested in investigating how (formal) safety assurances for components encompassing machine learning or deep learning technology (e.g, deep neural networks) can be derived. In this context we are developing techniques to support safety analyses and engineering according to the ISO PAS 21448 SOTIF (Safety of the Intended Functionality) standard. A further recent threat of research is in Legal Tech. We are looking at the use of decidable fragements of first order logic in the formalization of legal contracts, in particular enterprise sale and purchase agreement, and to analyze them for consistency using SMT technology. My Chair offers technology transfer in software and systems engineering through individual consulting agreements. I also offer workshop moderation as well as specialist courses in the areas functional safety, ISO 26262, ISO PAS 21448 (SOTIF), DO-178-C, formal methods, formal verification, software engineering, systems engineering and systems architecture. I am a founding member of the 26262 club https://the26262club.com/.
