About Stefan Prekovic

I am a Group Leader and Principal Investigator at the Computational Omics Discovery Lab, where I lead a team of multidisciplinary researchers focused on developing novel therapeutic strategies for cancer. I earned my BSc/MSc degrees in Molecular Genetics from the University of Belgrade, where I gained a strong foundation in molecular biology and genetics. After completing my undergraduate and graduate studies, I pursued a PhD in Biochemistry/Bioinformatics at KU Leuven, where I worked with Frank Claessens' lab to study the androgen receptor's role in diverse diseases. This research has led to several publications in high-impact journals and has laid the foundation for my current work on transcription factor targeting in cancer. Following my PhD, I conducted postdoctoral research at the Netherlands Cancer Institute, where I worked with Wilbert Zwart to investigate transcription factor action in various cancer types using omics, screening, and computational methodologies. Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to translating scientific discoveries into clinical practice and have a passion for contributing to cutting-edge research in the field of cancer biology and therapeutics.
