About Stefan Shih

Hello, my name is Shih Yu Cheng. I hold a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. During my graduate studies, I published several journal articles, obtained two patents, and completed the Semiconductor Industry Program. I also participated in academic exchanges in Germany, which broadened my global perspective and deepened my understanding of advanced technologies. Since May 2023, I have been working as a Customer Service Engineer (CSE) at KLA, specializing in the Photomask Defect Inspection Department. In this role, I am responsible for supporting and maintaining advanced optical and inspection systems used in semiconductor photomask manufacturing. My work includes performing system diagnostics, analyzing defect data, executing preventive maintenance, and providing on-site technical support to ensure optimal tool performance and uptime. Through this experience, I have enhanced my problem-solving skills, technical communication, and expertise in precision metrology within the semiconductor industry. 🧩 Personal Characteristics I am proactive, goal-oriented, and highly organized. My strong leadership and communication abilities enable me to work effectively in teams and take initiative when needed. I consistently complete tasks ahead of schedule and have often been chosen to lead team projects due to my reliability and sense of responsibility. Academic Background & Achievements Master’s Thesis: Developed a climbing robot for measuring cable-stayed bridge vibrations to calculate cable tension and evaluate structural reliability (Utility Model Patent No. M634672). Publications & Patents: Developed a simple network intrusion detection system – Invention Patent No. I760211 (CSME 2022). Developed a simple 3D laser scanner – CSME 2021 Paper Submission.
