I'm working in the middleware area, especially on world-wide interoperable Authentication and Authorisation Infrastructures (AAI). My focus is on the "eduroam" roaming consortium, which provides world-wide Wireless LAN roaming to users in the education and research sector, at thousands of educational institutions around the globe. The roaming infrastructure is using the RADIUS, EAP and 802.1X protocols since its inception more than 10 years ago; something that is only now starting to be deployed as "Hotspot 2.0" by the industry at large. I am working on eduroam R&D for almost a decade, most of that time as the lead R&D engineer for eduroam in Europe. Specialties: Profound knowledge of the RADIUS, EAP and 802.1X protocols and several implementations, like FreeRADIUS and Radiator. Specialist in protocol standardisation, particularly in the IETF. Since Mar 2014, I co-chair the RADIUS Extensions Working Group at the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).
