About Stefan Yap

I have over 20 years of technical experience within a wide range of sectors throughout New Zealand, Southeast Asia, East Asia and the Caribbean with practical expertise in Contaminated Land Management, Environmental Regulatory Compliance and Hazardous Waste Management. Eight of those years were spent with a Fortune 500 global consultancy where I successfully developed new clients and profitably managed numerous projects ranging from small quick-turnarounds to large multi-million dollar annual programmes for several multinational O&G corporations. Prior to working with the global consultancy, I spent two years as the Head of Environment for a multinational gold mining company where I was responsible for leading the largest gold mine in Malaysia into full compliance with its Environmental Impact Assessment Conditions, its Environmental Management Plan and the Environmental Quality Act (1974) as well as all other related legislation. Since immigrating to New Zealand in 2014, I have worked as a contaminated land specialist with small and large clients across a wide variety of industries including large-scale infrastructure, transport, oil & gas, energy, telecommunication, construction, education, manufacturing, recreation, agriculture & horticulture, and solid waste. Additionally, I hold a Bachelor of Environmental Science with Honours degree from Murdoch University in Western Australia.
