About Stefanie Geringer
I am a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Tax Law, Faculty of Law, University of Vienna and the Department of Financial Law and Economics, Faculty of Law, Masaryk University Brno. I am also a Certified Tax Adviser and a Manager Tax at BDO Austria. My research is currently funded by a Schrödinger Fellowship from the Austrian Science Fund (FWF)(Grant-DOI: 10.55776/J4908). This includes my work on a principle-based allocation of procedural competences in VAT law between the EU and its Member States. Current research interests include: – cross-border VAT/GST administration and administrative cooperation; – technology-based approaches to making the VAT/GST more progressive; – comparative VAT/GST law; – non-tax policies in VAT/GST, including the implementation of the UN SDGs; – global tax governance in direct and indirect taxation; – historical research and cultural comparative law as methods in tax legal scholarship.
