About Stefanie Karnitz

I began my healthcare career as a physical therapy aide within a physical therapy outpatient office and at a long-term care facility. I also worked at an occupational hand specialist office. My responsibilities included performing ultrasound treatment, TENS therapy, applying heat and cold packs to affected areas, and directing and documenting patient exercises. My career detoured and I worked at the Arizona Department of Transportation where I managed a federally funded local training office for Arizona city and town public works departments. I was responsible for coordinating statewide training, creating and distributing a bi-monthly newsletter, working with department’s procurement office to create state contracts, and organized statewide winter conferences. I have also worked at a small association office setting up a member database and other assigned tasks. During nursing school, I worked a year as a nurse extern within a postpartum unit. I became a nurse on the same unit after graduation, worked in the well-baby nursery, and became a RN Manager where I currently work. During my nursing career I have participated in a research project, been a member of my department's Education Shared Leadership Council, been awarded Contributing to the Nursing Profession within my facility, and worked on various policies and procedures that affect Women and Infant Services patients throughout my organization.
