About Steffen Vanneste
I graduated as a bio-engineer, developed in interest in plants during my PhD and got passionate about how they grow. Through the years, I was always working to unravel the intricate mechanisms of development, at the level of the developmental program and its intimate connection to the plant hormone auxin. Starting of as a bio-engineer, I still enjoy the new and emerging technologies and try to implement them in my research. Currently, I am a team leader at Ghent University (HortiCell), leading teams on trying to develop new strategies to improve adventitious root development, protoplast regeneration/transfection and microspore embryogenesis.
