Steffen is the President and CEO of the consulting firm Food Business Consulting and COO of The ViViD Team, both full-service concept-through-commercialization Product and Brand development agencies in Denver, Colorado. For over 30 years, Steffen has been a noteworthy leader in the food and beverage space working in Product and Brand Development, R&D, and Operations Management with consumer product companies holding management positions with Sara Lee, ViCorp, and Einstein Brothers Bagels. Steffen is driven by intellectual and creative curiosity to find strategic solutions in the development of many different types of innovative food and beverage products. Whether it is ideating a solution for innovative taste, sourcing the perfect functional ingredient for a formulation, or adapting the manufacturing process to create a novel beverage product, Steffen is always able to quickly uncover a client’s pain point and identify a meaningful solution. With a refined set of skills from work and partnerships in the industry, Steffen brings client-centric mindfulness that enables companies to innovate and strategically bring their food and beverage products to life. His previous corporate responsibilities have included new food product/food process development, strategic planning, business development, acquisition analysis; category assessments; competitive and financial analyses. This experience includes virtually all distribution channels, including grocery, foodservice, retail, online / e-commerce, warehouse clubs, drug/mass merchandisers, and c-stores. Since founding the consulting business in 1990, Steffen and the FBC team have worked with consumer food and beverage product companies developing new food products, improving existing products, and determining new areas for growth. Steffen has led the development and commercialization of hundreds of successful Retail, Food Service, Branded and In-Store branded and private label product introductions for many top (CPG) food manufacturers in the US, Canada, and Europe.
