About Stella Turner

Hi! I'm a sophomore at Duke University studying cellular biology and physiology. I have experience as an EMT and a volunteer with dementia patients, and hope to pursue a career in nursing. This Summer, I will be implementing a community health initiative in Accra, Ghana by working with local mechanic shops and schools to prevent water supply contamination and exposure to carcinogenic motor oil. In the Fall, I will be studying Oceans, Humans & Environmental Health at the Duke Marine Lab in Beaufort, NC and la Universidad San Francisco de Quito in the Galápagos Islands. Currently, I serve as the Social Chair for Wannamaker Quad, helping to create community among Duke students and ensure Wannamaker remains a welcoming and diverse space. Additionally, I am an undergraduate TA for Molecular Biology at Duke, working with an incredible instructional team which focuses on equitable education. I also volunteer with the Duke Red Cross Club, leading blood drives on campus to address nationwide blood shortages in hospitals.
