About Stella Zhou

Originally from Vancouver, I am an urban planner and community engagement specialist living in Toronto. I hold a Master’s in Community and Regional Planning (MCRP) and a BA in Geography, specializing in Urban Environment and Sustainability, from the University of British Columbia (UBC). I am constantly learning, unlearning, and relearning as a planner while exploring the diverse opportunities in city planning, inclusive public space, creative placemaking and community-oriented development. I currently work as a Public Consultation Coordinator with the Parks & Recreation division at the City of Toronto. As a second-generation Chinese-Canadian, I navigate the world through the intersection of my cultural roots and self-identities. I believe planners should design cities that foster deep connections between people, the land, and its diverse history and cultures. Through equitable community engagement processes and informed decision-making, we can create spaces where individuals feel safe, valued and supported. My passion lies in shaping healthy, inclusive cities that enable communities from all backgrounds to connect, create and thrive together.
