Accountability and ownership are key for success in sales - you have to put the work in; no one else is going to do it for you. Also, no one else owns the outcome. The results are on you - win or loss. The highest form of accountability is ownership because it is driven by intrinsic motivation. But we are not all made like that; most of us require external influence. Therefore, holding sales professionals accountable cannot be labeled as micromanagement but rather a fantastic opportunity to coach, guide, and develop. High-performing individuals in sales will expect to be held accountable; they have nothing to hide because they recognize that accountability is for their success! I am constantly aiming to build teams on the foundation of ownership. Teams with an unparalleled drive to succeed - teams on a mission! Also, I am a big believer in mastering the basics. No fancy stuff is needed to succeed; constantly trying to perfect the basics will ultimately lead to success. Learn, practice, seek coaching, practice until you master what you've learned. And then, learn something new and repeat the cycle. over and over again. Never settle; always be hungry to learn more.
