About Stephane Monfils
My research focuses on energy and environmental performances of buildings, with a special interest on existing buildings, technical and behavioural components of the renovation stakes. I have taken part in the definition and implementation of the energy performance regulations in Wallonia, especially the Energy Performance Certification, which was in the centre of my PhD thesis. My post-doctoral project would tend to explore ways to accelerate retrofitting on all kinds of dwellings, through the association of global approaches (either led by public policies or collective actions) and studies of individual requirements and needs, incentives and barriers. Research themes include people understanding of energy consumption, its defining factors and consequences; their perception of public policies, stakes and objectives on renovation; their relationship with their “home sweet home” and their known city surroundings, incentives and obstacles to renovation, and the rebound effect.
