I am currently pursuing a master's degree in biomedical engineering at Columbia University, focusing on using machine learning to improve diagnostics and treatment within healthcare. Having worked in labs that research content span atomic simulations, 3D-printing fluid mechanics, and computer vision, I enjoy combining computational techniques and experimental workflows, drawing on the merits of each to expedite research pipelines. My passion for innovation in biomedicine is greatly informed by my upbringing in South Africa. Being witness to both the need for and the benefits of accessible, affordable healthcare, I am driven to use ML techniques to improve medical services/devices wherever inequalities may exist. Additionally, as a senior national athlete, I have become obsessed with the capabilities of the human body - I view my academic endeavours as a lens to peer further into what humans are capable of.
