Background

About Stephani K.

I am a cheerful and empathetic person who thrives on helping others. Through my experience in the healthcare industry, I have learned that one can profoundly impact people's lives without being a physician. My various roles have enhanced my knowledge and skills, allowing me to reach my current level in the field before completing my degree. I will graduate with a bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration from St. Joseph's University in May 2026 and pursue my first certification, the Certified Professional of Healthcare Quality (CPHQ). Strong leadership is built on camaraderie, communication, empathy, structure, and transparency within the team. Setting egos aside to recognize areas needing improvement is essential - change is good for the soul. I am passionate about transforming outpatient practices and hospitals' administrative and operational workflows. Everyone plays a crucial role in facilitating high-quality patient care, generating revenue, and minimizing waste, but this can only be achieved through collaboration. Maintaining consistency in structured workflows that serve as standard protocols across organizations is imperative. This unity across platforms reduces errors, decreases HIPAA violations, and improves EHR documentation. Our society focuses on medical errors clinically, and it's time to concentrate on enhancing clerical. The clinical and clerical staff represent physicians and practitioners, and their interactions significantly impact this industry. They guide patients throughout their experiences—from every phone call and written correspondence with administrative assistants, billers, and nurses to the patient access team, medical assistants, checkout staff, and many more. Without positive support from leadership, the team’s efforts will diminish, leading to decreased morale and the reason behind team member resignations. Perception shapes how we view healthcare. A skilled physician can save a life, but if the support team is ineffective, patients will negatively perceive the practice and seek care elsewhere, a judgment I'm guilty of, too. Treating others with the respect and kindness we wish to receive can change the world like an infectious disease. By adhering to this principle, I am confident that I can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around me. With my unwavering commitment and natural ability to connect with people, I aim to influence our leadership culture and mitigate egos in the healthcare industry. Doctors are superheroes with stethoscopes; their capes are administrators and chief officers!
