About Stephanie Bracaloni

I am looking for an international software developer position. This has been an opportunity to reflect on my criteria for an engaging work environment. I would like to be involved in an innovative project and work with people with a strong sense of teamwork, to keep on learning and improving professional skills with daily challenges and training. So far I have developed a lot in Java and Python environments, while always keeping in mind the systems and projects as a whole. I strive to find new challenges and problems to solve on a daily basis. Even if I prefer some programming languages to others, it is not the primary criteria in my job search. Beyond my interest for the field and technologies involved, the work environment is very important. These are a few elements worth mentioning- Teamwork, knowledge sharing, code quality: merge request, code review, pair programming, frequent demonstration, code validation using syntactic and semantic analysis- Testing practices: TDD, reliability, never ignore tests, no flaky tests, easily reproducible tests environment- Automation and Continuous Integration: tasks scripting, early feedback - Fail Fast, reliable and scalable system- Work organization: well-defined division of labour, responsible technical debt management- Time for innovation, training, autonomy: test new tools/technologies, conferences. On the other hand, it is easy to fall into some traps. Working in a static environment (no technical watch, old technologies), balancing the lack of processes with an excessive use of them (“over-Agility”), keeping an ever-growing backlog or being limited to a bounded environment in opposition with Devops principles. This is not an exhaustive and fixed checklist about necessary points to get a job I like. It is rather a way to take stock of what I like in work environment and what I would try to improve. I hope my next job will provide me new good practices to enrich this list.
