Background
About Stephanie Farmer
Hi! My name is Stephanie Farmer and I am a creative storyteller who advocates for self-expression no matter what your identity is. That has manifested in founding a TEDx conference, creating a student-run magazine, writing fiction short stories, studying disability art, and traveling the world learning from the people around me. I'm looking for an opportunity to maintain my creativity and increase other people's access to the beauty of the world. In my four years at NYU, I have lived many different lives. I started by fulfilling my dreams of working in fashion with Laquan Smith and I got to attend Met Gala and Fashion Week events sooner than I imagined possible. Then, I saw the world. I spent a semester studying abroad in Paris taking art lessons in a penthouse studio and analyzing the differences in media between the US and Europe. While my French isn't perfect, I'm so grateful for all the taxi drivers who let me practice despite my American accident. The semester after, I lived in a homestay in Buenos Aires for four months. I created an art and literature magazine that encouraged NYU BA students to break the expat bubble and explore the local community. We published two issues and were featured in the academic journal Esferas created by NYU's Spanish and Portuguese department. Since I returned to New York I've been exploring the world of social media marketing emphasizing the ways pure creativity and art lead to the best branding. Most importantly, I've been embracing my disabled identity and working as an advocate for disability rights through academic research and access training. I have to admit how proud I am of myself for my ability to both create my own projects and support the teams who are doing incredible projects that align with my missions and goals.
