About Stephanie Langille

I am currently working as a secondary mathematics teacher in Burnaby. I finished my Bachelors of Education in August of 2014 at SFU with a minor in Secondary Mathematics Education. I have also completed undergraduate and graduate degrees in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics respectively, both from SFU. While I have specialized in math, I am very confident in the fields of science and music education as well. During my two practicums at Burnaby Central Secondary School, I taught two blocks of Foundations of Math 9, three of Foundations and Pre-Calculus 10 (two of the regular curriculum and one enriched), one of Foundations of Math 11, and two of Calculus 12. During this time I was able to solidify and implement my beliefs about teaching and learning. The following are a few highlights from my teaching philosophy that I feel were well implemented, and strongly represented in my teaching reports. • I feel that no lesson should be taught the same way twice as it is my responsibility to find innovative ways to teach the material, • I believe that teaching is a collaborative process between teachers, parents and students, • I believe strongly that learning is a group activity, • And finally, I believe learning is a two way street. I am there to teach young adults, but I have to be receptive to what they are teaching me in order to deliver knowledge to them most effectively.
