About Stephanie Mathers

I have been involved in animal rescue and welfare since adopting my first cat, Shakespeare, from the Capital Area Humane Society in Lansing, Michigan 2002. As my love for animals grew, I adopted more cats (along with a few house bunnies) and became involved in Trap, Neuter, and Return (TNR) for a group of community cats in Williamston, Michigan. After moving to Utah in 2010 to be closer to the mountains, I started helping animal rescues and sanctuaries in my spare time. My roles varied from animal care volunteer to board member to grant writer. In the meantime, I fostered a successful career in education, with roles ranging from high school English teacher, middle school principal, curriculum director, and policy writer. During this time, I wrote grants for my school and smaller nonprofits in the education space. Throughout my education, my dream was to find a way to combine two of my biggest passions: writing and animals. In 2021, I started focusing more time and energy on my work writing grants for animal-related nonprofits and officially started Grants 4 Animals LLC. After successfully working with a small group of nonprofit clients, I recognized the deep need among animal-related nonprofits for grant writing assistance. After expanding my client base to maximum capacity and taking Grants 4 Animals full-time, I started creating online courses and resources so that my work could help more nonprofits and more animals. Today, I enjoy working with a small group of full-service clients, students in my online courses, and nonprofit consulting clients. My goal is to blend the head (spreadsheets, project budgets, grant proposals) with the heart (an unwavering devotion to alleviating the suffering of all animals) to help as many nonprofits and animals as possible. Since formally starting Grants 4 Animals, I have earned, managed, and reported on over $5 Million in funding for animal-related nonprofits. I love connecting with anyone passionate about animal welfare!
