A free-lance Illustrator here for non-fiction Flora & Fauna Children's books, Adult Trade books, Cookbooks, and Editorial illustrations. Step-by-step instructional Illustrations for recipes and crafts are a specialty, too. My inspiration comes from Children and my love of musical themes, as I'm a singer in the Masterworks Chorale, Boston, and the Newton Swing Band, specializing in songs by Berlin and Gershwin) As an Art Teacher for workshops, I'm delighted to work with children each week in a class called."Clay Tunes," at the New Art Center, Newton, MA. In this class, I introduce the children to my favorite construction techniques using clay for illustration and dimension as bas-relief while introducing them to great Classical Music and Jazz. Some "Recycled Paper and Food Box Character" workshops have come my way, too, with a grant from a Massachusetts Cultural Council grants from public libraries this year. Inspired by the great illustrator of children's books, Eric Carle, who hand-painted tissue papers, overlapping them to create other colors and effects, came saving food boxes and colorful magazine papers for creative recycling. Parents, caregivers, and their children have the best time taking a break from their busy lives to create together. As a Freelance illustrator, I thrive on commissions, collaborations, and education themes, working with art directors, designers, and other artists. I enjoy creating with a new subject to learn about, art direction, going back and forth with the designers and art directors, checking on my preliminary sketches, and creating what they seek. And finally, the work is helping the world out there and published good feeling indeed.
