Background
About Stephanie Ritchie
I’ve always been a word nerd, curious, observant, and passionate about lifelong learning from an early age. When I wasn’t outside soaking up the freedom of childhood, I was curled up with a book or writing stories. I still remember the thrill of crafting a narrative that pulled people in, whether it was my parents, teachers, or friends. This love for language has stayed with me, evolving into a career where storytelling isn’t just a skill; it’s a strategy and a way to build genuine connections. I began my career in sales in the aviation industry and progressed into analysis and project management, where many see only documentation and timelines. But I saw something else: a story arc. Every initiative had its characters, stakes, tension, and eventual resolution. Every success hinged on whether people understood the purpose and felt connected. Over the last twelve years, I’ve shifted fully into communications, first in project communications, executive messaging, and employee engagement. I now lead a global biotech company's brand and public health communications. I manage the voice, tone, and storytelling across various platforms, such as social media, websites, marketing collateral, and media releases. These communications help shape how our HIV, hepatitis, and syphilis testing platforms reach both healthcare providers and the communities they serve. It’s a space where every word matters. Whether I’m working on supporting executive communications, planning a global campaign, or building a brand guide, I’m always focused on connection, helping people understand the story behind the work and why it matters. Because change, innovation, and collaboration all begin with the language we use. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of managing enterprise-level projects, leading communications during organizational transitions, and creating messaging frameworks that align with complex business, health, and regulatory goals. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, a PRINCE2 project certification, and am an ISO 9001 lead auditor, blending creativity and precision in equal measure. Outside work, I find creativity and balance through cooking, experimenting with new recipes, and sharing meals with family and friends. I recharge equally through quiet evenings spent with a board game or a good book and lively nights enjoying live music and Vancouver’s vibrant arts scene. Whether wandering through libraries, exploring oceanside trails, or gathering around bustling dinner tables, I’m always seeking inspiration — and the next story waiting to be told.
