About Stephanie Thiede

I am currently a Senior Computational Biologist at Tempus Labs where I leverage genomic/transcriptomic data and machine learning to create algorithms used to help physicians make data-driven treatment decisions. I first trained as a Biomedical Engineer in undergrad. Desiring to dive deeper into biology, I pursued a PhD in Microbiology & Immunology and landed in a computational biology-focused lab where I integrated genomics and epidemiological data to study the transmission and evolution of antibiotic-resistant pathogens.My interest in conducting data-driven, innovative, and translational research using genomics propelled me to pursue an internship at Tempus Labs where I joined full time after graduation working in the oncology space. I strive to encourage women to pursue STEM through mentorship and outreach to younger generations via my involvement in Girls Who Code and Software Carpentry and mentorship programs in the workplace.
