About Stephany Madsen

Stephany A. Madsen is the former Senior Vice President – Special Projects for the American Resort Development Association (ARDA) headquartered in Washington, D. C. She retired from ARDA in June 2013. At the end of 2005, Madsen retired as Senior VP of State Affairs, where she directed all of ARDA's state legislative activities for 15 years. She was instrumental in defeating, revising and enacting legislation in more than 30 states around the U.S. In April 2005, ARDA gave Madsen the “Ingersoll and Bloch Industry Advocacy Award,” which recognizes an individual whose achievements in the legal arena have propelled the timeshare industry forward. Having moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 2017, Stephany enjoys volunteering at the extraordinary Heard Museum Shop, volunteering at other Heard Museum events and learning about the history, culture and artistic talents of Native American and First Nation peoples. During her 28 years with ARDA she also managed the National Timesharing Council, public relations, and convention and educational program development. Prior to joining ARDA in 1985, she was executive editor for the Land Development Institute, Ltd. of Washington, D. C. for 10 years, where she developed and edited four newsletters and several books on specialized areas of law affecting timesharing, condominiums, subdivided land, and campgrounds. She also was a contributor and editor of two books published by the Urban Land Institute on timesharing as well as a contributor to the Practitioners Publishing Company compendium on CIRAs. She continued to write articles for various industry publications and has been a speaker at industry gatherings throughout her career.
