Background
About Stephen D. Thompson
Stephen Thompson, a lifelong career educator, has applied his skills and knowledge to management positions in both the public and private sectors. For eighteen years Stephen's Maine State government career allowed him to serve as Maine's State Career Education Coordinator within the Maine Department of Education and Cultural Services and as the Training, Research, and Marketing Manager for the Maine Occupational Information Coordinator. His career in the private sector involved twelve years as a special agent for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company and the Managing Editor at Chronicle Guidance, a small publishing company located in Moravia, New York. Stephen's background in career education, career/educational information delivery, and career guidance programming is extensive. When computerized career information delivery became available Stephen along with his co-workers at the MOICC, expanded Maine's Career Information Delivery System program from 14 experimental sites to more than 120 sites throughout the State of Maine within a 12 month period. Currently, Stephen is applying these skills/knowledge and newly acquired social networking skills to the development of a newly registered Maine nonprofit, The Lost Trotting Parks Heritage Center. The Center is now in the early stages of implementing its Maine 200 Grant: The Maine Spirit and the Horse. Check out the project's website: http://themainespirit.blogspot.com Stephen’s current initiatives involve the implementation of a Maine 200 Grant called the Maine Spirit and the Horse and a blog on the value of strategic conversations.
