About Stephen Dean

With coming up to 20 years working in all facets of IT and within different industries, I have learnt it is not IT the field that is difficult or complex it is the people involved and the perception of IT across the entire organisation. Years of inheriting mountains of technical debt, unmotivated individuals with no clear path in sight has made me into who I am today, someone with a tendency to look at the simple things in order improve the whole. A demonstrable track record of stabilising IT functions and returning value with little or no investment by just focusing on the individuals that make up IT and ensuring what is important is at the forefront of all thinking. That is not to say investment is not welcome… A strong believer in agile delivery yet wise enough to know there is no one size fits all approach, blending traditional project management where needed to get the best results. Why can you not have Prince 2, Kanban and SCRUM all working together? Going full Agile can scare some executive boards and I will happily discuss why for the agile purists! An ability to communicate across all levels of the business, comfortable pitching and discussing at the board level just as much as I am sat by an IT technician or Software Developer. I will always be hands on and found at the coalface more so than sat alone in an office, how else do you know what is really going on and the challenges a company faces? To put it simply, I seem to be the guy you chat to over coffee who takes those chats and puts into place initiatives to address the pertinent pain points while driving forward an organisations strategy. So who is buying the coffee?
