Background

About Stephen Denes

My interest in aviation started early in life, which eventually led to earning a pilot's license as I graduated high school. Shortly after I graduated with a degree in civil engineering technology, I was able to continue professionally with a focus on my passion for aviation when I became an airport design and resident construction engineer. From that point, my career was focused on the design and construction of airport infrastructure and aviation facilities. That technical experience led to managing projects and programs since I had insight as a pilot into how to balance operational and development challenges. I have worked at general aviation and military airfields, commercial-service airports, as well as international air carrier airports in North America, England and the Middle East for airport owners and airlines. I have also led, managed, coached, mentored and administered departmental staff and consultants in challenging fast-paced operational and construction environments with multiple constituents and stakeholders. I have also been a valued technical resource for airport system assessments, master plans and privatization studies. I continue to fly in the US as a volunteer pilot. I particularly enjoy providing orientation flights to cadets so I can pass along to them not just my knowledge of aviation, but my experience in the industry and enthusiasm for the air transportation industry. I am a dual citizen of the United States and Canada and authorized to work in both countries.
