About Stephen Eidson

I worked for many years in college admissions, financial aid and enrollment management. Most of this time was spent at the University of Pittsburgh, but I also worked for Heidelberg College and Thiel College. For the last 12 years, I am again working for the University of Pittsburgh, but at the School of Social Work and with the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Resource Center (formerly the Child Welfare Training Program.) My duties include helping county agencies in the child welfare area work to improve their internal organizational policies and practices. I also help county agencies to improve organizational effectiveness in terms of providing safety, permanency and well-being for children, youth and families. I help county Children and Youth agencies and their cross-systems partners in the schools, juvenile probation, mental health, drug and alcohol, and intellectual disabilities work together to affect outcomes for children and families. Using my expertise in post-secondary education, I help counties and their provider partners to help prepare teens and young adults for work and further training after high school. I help these systems connect to PHEAA, the state grant agency; Career Link/Workforce Investment and Casey Life Skills. My work also includes work with the state-funded Family Centers to improve outcomes for at-risk families, particularly those with young children. I am a member of the CWRC's Older Youth workgroup and the Sustaining Change workgroup for child welfare systems. I am also a member of the Youth Standing Committee which advises the North Central Workforce Investment Board (WIB.)
