I am an architect and academic. In am the Editor-In-Chief of the international journal 'Building Research & Information' and author of many books on aspects of building. My research and consultancy interests cover two main areas, design management and architectural technology. Design management covers the application of process improvements, such as lean thinking, to improve productivity, profitability and design quality. This is linked to collaborative working and collaborative technologies such as BIM. Architectural technology covers the way in which we detail our buildings in a sustainable manner. This is linked to new materials and technologies, designers' decision making habits and fundamental questions relating to how we build.
