His professional experience includes roles with the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (now the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence), the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, and the Department of Defense Blast Injury Research Coordinating Office. Currently, he serves as a Health Solutions Proposal Strategist with Aptive Resources, where he develops innovative solutions for federal health initiatives.With 13 years of military service as a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives (CBRNE) officer, Stephen served actively for six years. He previously served in the Army Reserves as a Military Historian. His research interests span traumatic brain injuries, military studies, public health, and the dissemination of research to enhance the quality of life for underserved populations. His ongoing projects include the development of an art therapy mask intervention for TBI survivors, exploring concussion knowledge among college students, analyzing Medicaid TBI claims data in West Virginia, and understanding the challenges Army Reserve and National Guard members face in balancing civilian and military life.
