About Stephen L. McDaniel

Mr. McDaniel is a certified fundraising executive; he has held senior-level fundraising, marketing, and foundation leadership positions at universities or colleges, including Lincoln University PA, UMES, UVI, Norfolk State University, Alcorn State University, Fayetteville State University, Alabama A&M University, North Carolina A&T University, Tuskegee University, the University of Maryland at College Park, and Clark Atlanta University. He began his professional fundraising career as an integral Capital Campaign member of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) in 1980, supporting the Capital Resources Development Campaign as the Assistant Director. He later served as a Regional Telethon Coordinator and concluded his service with UNCF in 2006 after six years leading the Atlanta, GA, area office. In 1997, Mr. McDaniel was invited to serve as a philanthropy consultant in Niamey, Niger. In 2001, he served on the team that evaluated fundraising readiness at the Kigali Institute of Science, Technology, and Management in Kigali, Rwanda. Mr. McDaniel earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and a certificate in managing institutional advancement from the University of Chicago. He is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), a former member of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) National Commission on Philanthropy, a former member of the Board of Directors for CASE District and a former member of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) Advisory Council for Communications and Public Affairs. Mr. McDaniel resides in Atlanta, Georgia, and is an active member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc, an administrative trustee of the Charles B.
