I am a seasoned machine designer, I like novel, elegant solutions to complex problems. I am a designer, doer, a builder, a maker of things. I have worn many hats and can converse with multiple disciplines. Trouble shooting skills crossover from mechanical to electrical to software. I am a systems engineer. I have designed and built a novel hand therapy medical device robot for stroke patient recovery (patent applied for). I had an experience of taking a prototype instrument and successfully redesigning it for a rugged MIL-PRF-28800F (40cm drop test) environment in 14 weeks using a concurrent design and build concept. Due to my hands-on machining experience, I design parts understanding and taking advantage of the processes being used. My design philosophy is to solve a problem with the least amount of parts. As a Product Development Engineer I supported scientists and engineers in the development of new advanced products from prototype to patent to production. SKILLS Medical Device research and development prototyping, data analysis and product improvement, including invention of innovative solutions and patent submissions and awards, design verification testing and reports, 60601 testing and reports. Solidworks machine design modeling (3D CAD), machine drawings and tolerance. Assembly and parts documentation with work instructions and Bill Of Materials. Machining, turning, welding, metal fabrication, vacuum bagged composites layup with epoxy. Design for CNC capabilities. Including; wire EDM, hole popping EDM, dynamic water-jet cutting. Weldments design and fabrication.
