Current role, development, research, and outreach initiatives: Stephen Ley is currently an Associate Professor within the School of Aviation Sciences. Coursework includes traditional and online courses for aerospace management and technology-based disciplines. Special projects include the development of a new Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Technology Management that integrates high technology sustainment management into an advanced FAR Part 147 AMTS. Special academic and research focus is on development of curriculum associated with Advanced Air Mobility MRO infrastructure requirements and for new FAR Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician School curriculum standards. This includes research focused on workforce development and qualification standards to meet the needs for continued airworthiness of emerging technologies to include advanced air mobility aircraft and associated airframe and propulsion systems. Outreach includes serving as both a contributor and a special working group member that includes: NBAA Emerging Technologies Committee, ASTM Int'l F38 UAS and F46.06 Autonomous and Electric Aircraft Maintenance Personnel standards development, Utah Advanced Aviation Maintenance Planning (UAAMP) working group, Aviation Technician Education Council (ATEC) Regulatory Committee and Editorial Board, Utah State Board of Education Aviation Maintenance CTE program. Academic Leadership roles: As Chair, provided leadership and strategic vision to the Professional Pilot and Aviation Administration Bachelor of Science degree programs within the School of Aviation Science. This position preceded by role as Program Lead, Instructor and FAA ASSURE UAS Research Lead for Kansas State University Polytechnic within the Department of Aviation Technology located in Salina, Kansas. Industry Customer Support & Leadership roles: Head of Customer & Services Training for Rolls-Royce Corporation. Developed global operational strategies in training services sales and deployment for Regional Airline, Corporate Aircraft, Defense, Helicopter, and Energy business segments. Constructed the Rolls-Royce Regional Customer Training Center located in Indianapolis. Provided leadership as Rolls-Royce Program Development Manager for Defense customers, and Lead Regional Customer Services Manager for Corporate Aircraft. Customer facing roles included Field Service Support for Rolls-Royce Spey, Tay, BR710, AE 3007 engines for Gulfstream II, IV, V, Bombardier Global Express, Citation X, Embraer 135/145 and Legacy aircraft. Service member for the USAF.
