My thoughts on the role of a mediator have been developed not only through my contact with civil trial attorneys as a judge over the past 20+ years, but also through courses I have attended each year on alternative dispute resolution. I have completed week long trainings at the National Judicial College on complex mediation in 2008 and 2017 and other week long mediation courses at various places across the country in 2009, 2011, and 2014. In every year I have completed other courses ranging from two days to online courses. I am doing mediations and arbitrations by video conferencing when in person meeting is not available.
